Fold Laboratories

How it works

Fold acts as a vector search platform allowing buyers in the agentic economy to find and benefit independent artists in a way they never have been able to before

  1. Create your studio

Sign up with an email address and answer some introductory questions. The keys are yours right away. The studio is where your artwork hangs and where we bring agentic buyers to take it in.

Free to open and free to keep. Fold only makes money on a completed sale.

  2. Hang your first works

Provide an image of your work alongside pertinent details such as dimensions, age, and the price you want to sell it at. We run a vision model over the images and turn your details into something agents can search for. The vision model allows a collector asking for “a quiet harbour at dusk” to find the piece even if those words appear nowhere in your listing.

Nothing the model writes is ever published as yours. It only helps agentic buyers find the work.

  3. Connect Stripe and get paid

Identity checks and bank details go securely to Stripe. We never see any of your payment details. When an agentic buyer pays for a work, the payment comes to Fold: we keep our commission, remit the sales tax, and send the rest to your Stripe account, your delivery charge included.

Your first three sales are each paid out 14 days after the sale. After that, Stripe pays you out daily.

  4. Watch agents arrive

Your studio shows what agents actually did: how often a work was returned in a search, opened in full, or re-checked for availability just before an offer. This is the digital equivalent of sitting at the reception desk and watching visitors stroll into the studio.

Seeing these numbers can help to identify what’s popular and what isn’t.

  5. Ding! A sale happens

When an agentic buyer approves the purchase (usually with a human in a chat window), your share of the payment goes to your Stripe account and a notice comes to you with all the pertinent details.

Sell to high-intent agentic buyers day and night, then hear about it when the money is on its way.

  6. Ship the work to the buyer

The sale notice will carry everything you need to send it: the delivery method and charge you set when you listed the work, where it is going, and our guidance on packing a piece like yours so it arrives as it left.

You ship it yourself, your way. We do not take a cut of delivery or mark it up.

What will never change

Always your words

The description an agent reads out is the one you wrote. We never write it for you.

Yours to change, any time

Edit a listing, take it off sale, or withdraw it whenever you like. The change reaches agents at once, so nothing you have pulled can still be offered.

Your images stay yours

Your art is shown to buyers’ agents extremely carefully, and never handed over wholesale. The FAQ sets out exactly what each kind of agent can see, and for how long.
